Really believable aliens are difficult, but here they are beautifully realised and it is done with enough science to convince you of their probablity and the knowledge that the author's scientific background is as sound as it can be.

If you want a book that makes you feel good with an awesome description of an alien lifeform then this is for you, if however you want a narrative with depth and tension when learning to understand another's viewpoint don't read this one - you won't get any of that here! Loved it! It's a happy, feel-good novella with big scary aliens who also manage to be quite nice, and a heroine who likes dabbling in rock-pools.
