This book was beautiful, the writing was perfect and the plot intense and captivating. Seb and Gray play their own music, their own melody that only their bodies and hearts can hear. The book was like a music sheet, and their story a beautiful melody that we want to guard in our heart.

Yes, I judge you! Whereas the Enhanced team are located in Florida, this story is set in Atlanta and exceeded all my expectations. It drew me in, kept me captivated and opened my eyes to the ingenious way Ms. Sue's mind works. Not only has she kept within the realm of the world she has built, she has expanded into a series that can be far reaching. At thirty-eight years old, he had basically seen and done it all, but he had yet to fall in love. Sebastian, 20, Seb to friends, which there are few.
Deaf from an early age and struggling to protect himself from others. He has become a commodity to his very rich father, who has declared him unfit as once his enhanced state occurred. You're my life. Looking to right some wrongs in his life, Gray gladly took on the assignment only to be caught up in intrigue, and danger and a romance he never thought he wanted.
Too many things were not adding up when he took charge and quickly, Gray found himself as more than just a bodyguard, but also an advocate for the younger man. With the feeling of something sinister going in the Armitage household, Gray knew he had to get to the bottom of it or risk losing his charge. Seb had just gone from a rich boy who might be kidnapped for money, to a gifted one someone might just want to take and never give back.
He became motherless early and soon had to defend for himself, especially when the charge occurred. Now there were threats against him and with his former bodyguard killed, protection was needed badly. What he did not expect was the older man who seamlessly fitted into his life and took over with little argument from Seb. As always, too many words equals spoiler alerts and I would prefer you dive into this one and enjoy the experience. Though this book can be read as a standalone, if you are not familiar with the series, I suggest you get started here: Enhanced Series.
Sep 17, Xanthe rated it it was amazing. Wow, Victoria Sue never fails to disappoint in her writing regardless of the genre. The Enhanced World series are a fantastic read and this just proves it even more. This book is separate from the first three books though we do get a cameo from the MC's of them. In this story we follow Gray And Sebastian, Gray being hired as personal security for Seb after some threats and attacks on people he knows. He is hired as a precaution but there is so much more going on than Gray's been told.
Sebastian h Wow, Victoria Sue never fails to disappoint in her writing regardless of the genre. Sebastian has been deaf since a young boy due to meningitis and then evolved when h was twelve causing his world to shrink even more. With operations to try and help his hearing, his recent bodyguard apparently committing suicide and the constant vertigo, nothing is going right for him at the moment and the only way he has control is within his rooms at his father's estate.
Gray takes on the new security role expecting a spoilt young man but he got something he never bargained for. When he witnesses Seb's reaction and symptoms of vertigo he wants to do all he can to help. As well as keeping Seb safe, he wants to help him get better. But there is so much more going on than he knows and he needs all the help he can get to keep the man he's coming to care for safe. This book is filled with so much! We have action, mystery, a developing friendship into something more.
The mystery going on throughout is well written, keeping us guessing as to the who and why of what is going on and how it involves Sebastian. As well as drawing our MC's together, it also has the chance to tear them apart. Sebastian and Gray are characters given good histories that we slowly learn over time. Allowing the readers and the MC's to learn about them, grow to love them.
I would say this is a slow burner as things between the characters mean so much more than just falling in love as there's protection, care and friendship in there too. Both men also have trauma in their past and it's treated with respect by the author. Afghan, loss of parents and friends for Gray and illness, deafness, the loss of a parent, becoming enhanced, subsequent operations and now threats for Seb.
It's a lot for anyone to handle but when you have the care of someone who truly cares, it's not quite as bad as it was when alone. Whilst Gray is there because of a not so obvious threat, we are also treated to some positive, happy moments with Seb being a highly skilled piano player and Gray sharing his morning Tai Chi ritual.
Gray opens up Sebastian's world from the suite he has at home to the rest of his home, the garden and even some time outside of the gates. It all makes for fantastic reading. Victoria is wonderful at world building and also including a wide variety of characters, both good and bad. We have several emotional moments, not just with our MC's but with those around them as well. I definitely recommend this book! And the series, and any books from Victoria Sue :- I received an ARC from the publisher and am happily giving a review. Sep 24, Jess A Jaye rated it really liked it.
I love the Enhanced series and this is a fab addition. If you haven't read this series yet this is a fantastic entry point to get you started. It's set in the Enhanced world but other than a sneaky cameo the usual Enhanced gang aren't in this story. Gray, a non-enhanced is recruited to protect Seb a young deaf enhanced gay after receiving threats against him. Oh my god I defy you not to fall in love I love the Enhanced series and this is a fab addition.
Oh my god I defy you not to fall in love with Seb instantly. He is adorable, stubborn and boy he's been through some awful times.
Ondřej Havelka and his Melody Makers
You will want to hug him. While Gray is gruff and growly veteran who is dealing with some issues in his past especially while in Afghanistan. I loved the dynamic between Gray and Seb. They both desperately need someone to love and be loved by. And straightaway Gray looks out for Seb and takes his job seriously. Soon things move beyond just a professional relationship - yay! The sub plot of trying to discover who has been targeting Seb is really engaging and page turning.
Seeing the horror Gray goes through when Seb gets almost kidnapped you know he much he loves Seb but first he has to lower his walls and I always love seeing characters grow and do that. Already looking forward to the next book in the series and getting back to Talon and his team. He has no abilities that anyone is aware of. The father was quite clear on that. I have to confess, I hoped for a book about my Vance story and was slightly disappointed that it was neither his nor Elis Sebastian is totally different from all other enhanced we got to know and I loved how he developed and trusted Gray. Gray is on eof those stoic heros who thinks he is guilty for all the bad in the world and in this belief he is a bit selfish because to be honest: his sister might have needed him I was a bit miffed at the end but could understand it and essentially, it was a nice turn of events Oct 25, Tina LoveBooksDK rated it it was amazing Shelves: mm-law-enforcement-security , mm-sci-fi , 5-stars , mm , mm-comfort-healing.
This can be read as Standalone as written, but I will definitely recommended that you also read the others in the series, because they are amazing! Sep 24, Christy Godfrey rated it it was amazing. I loved this story! I was really looking forward to Gray and Seb since the Enhanced Series is one of my faves.
Both of these men are so lonely and broken, they truly are perfect for each other. Grey reluctantly takes a job protecting Seb and sparks fly from the beginning. This is not set in Florida, but we do briefly get to see Talon, Finn and the guys. Aug 12, ButtonsMom rated it it was amazing Shelves: arc-from-author. Suspenseful, romantic, wonderful! You won't be lost if you haven't read any of the other books but you surely will be missing some great stories if you don't read them.
Every time Victoria Sue comes out with a new book I can't imagine how it can be better than the one before it but somehow, she pulls it off. Read the blurb — it's good and tells you what you need to know. The emotions in this book just radiated off the pages. Gray was damaged fighting for his country and Seb's enhanced condition may have him being shunned. That Gray is going to see Seb as more than a job is a given; same goes for Seb seeing Gray as more than a bodyguard.
But it's all of the other events in this book that make it so compelling. There are bad guys, but Victoria Sue is pretty good at disguising who they really are at least to me until pretty late in the story. There are complex family situations involved one I didn't see coming for both Gray and Seb. The suspense is almost non-stop and the action scenes very descriptive. The detail about certain medical things in the story point to a lot of research on the author's part.

The book is another outstanding book in the enhanced world. Another book that has me wanting to live in and learn more from the characters and the way they live. The two main characters are Seb and Gray Gray is still struggling with his time in Afghanistan and you can see this right away in the first chapter Those same indicators show me that he needs Seb as bad as Seb needs Gray Seb needs Gray in my opinion but he is struggling to be able to be his own and to do for himself in his life and his work.
Seb is deaf You will see growth in both MCs and when you get to the last page you will fall to your knees crying asking for more Please take a chance and read this series Aug 07, Miranda rated it it was amazing. I want to start this review by saying I absolutely loved this book. I love the Enhanced books in general, but this is a spin off from the main series. In this book, the Enhanced is not the big, tough man; the human is. And it was a nice switch. He has been deaf since the age of three after a bou I want to start this review by saying I absolutely loved this book.
He has been deaf since the age of three after a bout of meningitis left him without his hearing, and people around him are dying. This feels kind of like a slow burn. We even get visits from our favorite Enhanced characters. I love everything Victoria Sue writes, but the Enhanced series is probably my favorite, and this is an excellent addition to the series. It gives you all the feels with the relationship between the two MCs and has an excellent supporting cast.
And the bad guys are the kind that give you the chills. I highly recommend it. Aug 07, Michelle Strange rated it it was amazing. I really enjoyed this story, Victoria Sue knows how to draw you into any world she has created within her books and her characters can be related to. Seb and Gray are a fantastic couple together, like any couple there are a few ups and downs but like with any of this author's books they always get their HEA. Seb is young and has lived a lonely life hasn't had much of a life since he transformed at the age of He feels is dreams and a promising musical future died that day the scar appeared.

Gray and Seb's story was a lesson on trust, losing trust for the one person you should be able to trust and losing trust in yourself. I absolutely loved seeing the other side of the enhanced world, the everyday person and how their life and fundamental freedoms are adversely affected by their change.
Seb is such a strong character and Gray was the perfect person to help him find his voice. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. Apr 29, Nene rated it really liked it. His Melody is the type of story that will make you laugh, smile, curse and curse some more. It has the potential to rip out your heart. For this reason, I came to appreciate this story. The title is perfect because it revolves around a broken person - His Melody, as in Kiel's love and wife. Melody is filled with highs and extreme lo points. She is broken, with an unfathomable past. Most importantly, she is real. I wanted to choke her and hug her all at once.
Amarie Avant drew me in such a way tha His Melody is the type of story that will make you laugh, smile, curse and curse some more. Amarie Avant drew me in such a way that I felt the emotions of the tale. Mental illness is not easy to endure. As the story progressed, and the past was revealed, I was stunned by what the character had endured.
Life is much more than happily ever after. Life is about taking the good and bad and coping; in Melody's case, learning to cope and grow. Kudos to Ms. Avant for stepping out even further with an emotional read. Apr 29, Lori Titus rated it really liked it. Fans of Aisha M. Taylor or Mia Caldwell will like this novel. Jun 14, Rita rated it liked it Shelves: interracial. This could have been a great book, I was heavily invested in Mel and Kiel. Then all of sudden Franco and Jelly had their own story going on as well. She lost me then, this could have been great.
Jan 22, Rena rated it really liked it. Hands full Kiel had his hands full dealing with Melody. She really to let Kiel in fully from the start. Melody pushed those closest to her away when all they wanted to do was love her. Even though I enjoyed the book, some things felt like fillers. The ending was somewhat confusing to me. In the end, Melody learned to trust Kiel's love for her. I'm very honored and grateful!! This book was very deep and at times it made me so frustrated to the point of wanting to rip my own hair out.
There are a lot emotions that I felt throughout reading and when a book provokes not only one emotion from me but many it leaves my book loving heart feeling content. I absolutely adore the cover and I think it perfectlt shows the beauty of what it's containing on the inside. I was pretty shocked when certain subjects were brought up and my heart instantly broke.
How the author provided a phone number at the end of the story to make sure nothing bad happens to anyone like it did with the heroine and I cannot thank her enough for shedding a light on that difficult subject but also giving a voice to victims. Avant created a roller-coaster ride of story and how two people's love can either make or break them. Even though I could've thrown my Kindle a few times I really liked the book and her writing.
Welcome to Beatport
I definitely will be picking up more of hear work in the future!! Melody Bradford was a character who had been through things in her life that led her to being closed off emotionally from everyone including her husband. At times she angered me to a point that I'd have to set my kindle down for a minute. At first I'll admit that I truthfully didn't like her whatsoever but as the story kept progressing and I learned why she was the way that she was I starting caring about her tremendously.
My heart shattered to pieces many times for what she went through. Even though I didn't understand exactly why she did the things that she did I felt like in the end she had her own reasons. She was stronger than she gave herself credit for too. Kiel McIsaac was a character that was a songwriter and his wife Melody was his muse. At beginning I wasn't exactly for sure where his mind was at even though he had his own point of view. He had faults as well which made him more human and very likable in my opinion. I felt so sorry for him when he was trying his best to prove to Melody her worth and his love for her.
How he wrote songs about his wife left me swooning and I think his passion for music really completed him as a character. I was surprised by some of the things that he did and to what extent. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a read that deals with extremely heavy topics but those in turn show what it truly means to understand that everyone deserves to be loved and to love. It features multiple points of view and I think that in itself makes the story even more entertaining.
Please don't be afraid of picking this book up because of the difficult subject matter because it truly is eye opening. If this sounds like your kind of story then One-Click Today!! I have to say for the most part it was well written, maybe my issue was with the writing style, I am still not sure. I had a hard time connecting with the characters in the beginning and found myself putting it down and coming back to it later. I did find a few spots where there were inconsistencies and I realize that final edits may have not been made yet. I never rate a book based upon the editing unless it is atrocious, with this book, that wasn't the case. Melody Bradford's world is crumbling and she doesn't want to take her husband down with her. Demons form her past have started to rise to the surface and she has to find a way to battle them and save her husband the headache and heartache that it will cause. Kiel has been her saving grace. He has been the one man to love her completely and protect her. Now she finds herself fighting for a normal life while fighting the abuse of her past.

She is his and always will be. This is one book that may require a reread for me. It was an emotionally charged roller coaster ride of abuse, angst, betrayal and love. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a well written read, even though I personally struggling in the beginning with this one. May 16, Fiction Vixens Blog rated it it was amazing. This was my first time reading anything by Amarie Avant and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this touching story. Amarie Avant has given us a story that will suck you in and keep you there from start to finish and will leave you wanting more from this author.
This was a fast moving story and to our surprise to get to meet all the characters right off. I really was impressed with alot of the characters. But as I got to know who everyone was and what they issues were and who their were to Kiel a This was my first time reading anything by Amarie Avant and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this touching story. But as I got to know who everyone was and what they issues were and who their were to Kiel and Melody ,I because so hooked with this story.
This is Melody and Kiel's touching love story. Melody is a beautiful young woman with a family history that causes her to question herself with everything she does and if she's worthy. But when she meets Kiel and the love that is between them and the passion that they have for each other is breath taken. How they talk about a family of their own ,seems to trigger something in Melody that brings the past demons back to her. And makes her biggest fears show their heads ,and how she's afraid what will happen when her secret is outed in front of Kiel family, and friends.
This is not set in Florida, but we do briefly get to see Talon, Finn and the guys. He has no abilities that anyone is aware of. The father was quite clear on that. I was as devastated as Seb, however, when he finally realized and accepted how his father really felt and where his motivations lay. This was more exciting and suspenseful than I had expected, and that just thrilled me to no end!
I was a little disappointed at the way the last quarter of the book went very quickly and I felt as if I missed out on some things. This was an amazing story that took me on a ride that was sad, thrilling, sweetly sexy. Seb's story just broke my heart and I wanted to just hug the love into that boy. Gray had his own secrets that nearly kept him from Seb. Another well done story! Sebastian is deaf and enhanced. His father wants his son safe, and he hired a private security team to ensure to it. Gray is non-enhanced, ex-military and works for Rawling Security since he left the army.
Gray feels his overprotectiveness instinct raised. Seb and Gray will have to trust each other in order to erase any threat against them and allow Sebastian to be able to live his life fully and play his melody. As a huge fan of the Enhanced World series, I was more than thrilled, excited and also hyperventilating knowing that book 4 was coming out soon. When I heard that this book was a standalone in the series without my favorite guys, I was curious to read what the author had in her mind.
Sebastian had been deaf since he was 3 years-old after having meningitis, then at twelve, he woke up with the mark on his cheek.
