Usually ships within 3 to 4 days. Book 18 of Conflict between investigators is never fully explored, and may have been a lot more interesting than the long descriptions of Nikki Gillette's discomfort with the newspaper's technical guru. Gillette's brother had committed suicide-or was it an accident? To call this a psychological thriller would be stretching. Maybe Jackson didn't want to include all that stuff. Maybe this was a romantic thriller and she didn't want to go into police procedure and familial relationship dynamics.

That's fine. Now I know her writing style and my reading preferences don't mesh. Would I recommend this book? Sure, if you get it for free. View 1 comment.

Cole and Sav: Our Surprising Love Story

Jun 07, Donna rated it really liked it. A serial killer digs up caskets and puts a drugged person on top of the original body and he buries them alive with a microphone to hear their terrorized last moments of air. The killer sends letters to detective Pierce Reed and to journalist Nikki Gillette taunting them with rhymes.

The first victim is Reed's former lover but the killer also seems to be connected to Nikki as her apartment is broken into and her tires slashed. Secrets of Savannah Series

My library got this book in last week and I reserved it thinking it was Lisa Jackson's latest novel. It turns out to be from but I'm always happy to read any of her books from whatever year. Some of the chapters are narrated by the killer and we know he is male. I looked at every male character quite suspiciously.

I was convinced I knew which guy it was, then no, it's this other guy, then no, maybe it's this one. I was wrong on all three counts. I probably should have known by the time the clues became evident, but I had a great time speculating. Jun 13, Emma rated it it was ok Shelves: unconvincing-romance , why-did-i-ever-bother. An outlandish plot but it comes with the genre, I hear you saying is sank by moments of painful stupidity.

I could most certainly have saved the life of the killer's last victim and I've never had any training in police work or any type of investigative work. And here is how, genius me would have saved victim X: since both book characters and readers know the identity of the corpses whose graves and coffins the killer uses to bury his victims alive I'm not giving anything away this MO is desc An outlandish plot but it comes with the genre, I hear you saying is sank by moments of painful stupidity.

And here is how, genius me would have saved victim X: since both book characters and readers know the identity of the corpses whose graves and coffins the killer uses to bury his victims alive I'm not giving anything away this MO is described in the very first pages of the book then all you and I would have done is to go through the list of a finite number of names and check those who have died. Then dispatch a team immediately to the very finite number of graves and check which one has been violated and Bob's your uncle, victim X could have been found in time to save X's life.

I googled the city and it has a population under ,! Given that the killer uses graveyards with the exception of the first murder in and around the city then how difficult is to search for X kidnapped victim? But no, instead of doing the obvious, the police characters and the heroine sit around brooding, worrying, feeling exhausted, at a loss, angry, etc. What a bunch of utterly incompetent fools! It is not that the killer is clever, it is that the 'good guys' have the IQ of an amoeba.

Another major fail is that while the book is marketed as a romantic suspense there is no romance in it. Just a quick concoction that wants to pass as romance. Hero and heroine knew and disliked each other before the start of the book, yet they suddenly start having pangs of jealousy, wet dreams and turn to each other for comfort very brief scenes where there is no development, no interesting dialogue, no hot sex, nothing. The whole thing is totally unbelievable and utterly schematic and it cannot manage to persuade any reader that this is love at second sight let alone second sight with the passionate force of a delayed coup de foudre.

An embarrassingly bad book by a writer who has done much better before. I read 'The Morning After' a long time ago in Dutch. I was looking through my physical bookshelves when I noticed this at the back. I vividly remember it being a very thrilling and suspenseful read. If Lisa Jackson's other books are as good as I remembered this one to be I might try some more Lisa Jackson crime thrillers in the future. I loved this book. Talk about suspense. I would recommend it to all thrill seekers. Where does she come up with these ideas? Aug 06, Jool rated it liked it. Slow a lot of the time.

The Morning After by Lisa Jackson is a nail biting thriller that will keep you whipping through the pages right up to the end. Who is this killer that is taunting the police, especially Pierce Reed, the tough cop who is getting personalized messages from the killer? But the killer doesn't stop there - they begin to send the same kind of personalized messages to Nikki Gillette, a journalist who is looking to report more than the local school board meetings and other such mundane news.

Pierce and The Morning After by Lisa Jackson is a nail biting thriller that will keep you whipping through the pages right up to the end. Pierce and Nikki have a history, and not a good one. Pierce thinks most journalists are scum, making his job to catch the bad guys much harder than it should be, and Nikki tops the scum list. When news comes out of a crime that Pierce is called up to, Nikki suspects this might be the story she has been waiting for. She discovers that Pierce knew the victim - well, at least the one that had been recently killed - buried alive on top of a dead corpse.

She gets permission from her boss to work on the story with the lead crime reporter. As the bodies begin to pile up, Nikki finds herself in a very dangerous position. All the clues lead to one man, and the police focus on him. But things are not always as they seem to be, and soon Nikki finds herself a target of the killer, and she and Pierce are forced to work together to solve the crime as they piece together the notes each one of them are receiving.

Get ready for a wild ride, and an unexpected ending The Morning After will keep you up reading all night! So it was a good read in that sense. As a "romantic suspense", as the book is labeled on the spine, it's really damn lousy. It's the worst "romance" I've ever read, simply because there's practically no romance at all in the entire book.

The book is about pages long, and up to about page , Reed and Nikki have only 1 This story is a good suspense story. The book is about pages long, and up to about page , Reed and Nikki have only 1 serious interaction, and throughout the whole book, I think they kiss twice. There's no emotional connection between them, nothing deeper than the case they are working on. And at the end, you're given only that they may be about to enter into some sort of relationship. All that hardly qualifies this book as any sort of romance.

Why it is labeled as a romantic suspense is beyond me. I was highly disappointed in that factor. If you're looking for a good thriller, you'll like this book, but if you want romance, I'd avoid it. If you're engaged to Hana, she and Kiara will not be an option.

Hana chooses Kiara as her Maid of Honor. Penelope doesn't have a Choice 4. If you choose Maxwell, he will appear in Chapter 18 and 19 in your bridal party. If not, only the ladies and Bertrand will be there. Liam will not be an option if you are engaged to him, nor if you are engaged to Drake, as he will choose him as his Best Man. The preference you chose in Choice 22 will not appear in-game. Each gift you buy will unlock a special scene with its recipient in Chapter Choices are randomized depending on who is your LI. Your LI will be the last one to appear. Default is either 'sense of duty' for Liam, 'loyalty' for Drake, 'talent' for Hana, and 'supportiveness' for Maxwell.

See a Problem?

If you got diamond Choice 15 in Chapter 8. If you got the diamond Choice 12 in Chapter 7. You hear from everyone. You just get to chose the order. Your spouse will not be on the list. If you got diamond Choice 9 in Chapter Since one of the gifts is a free option in Chapter 17, you only get one of the choices in Choices if you didn't spend diamonds to buy gifts for the others. You get Choices if you buy gifts for all of them.

If you picked the wrong answer, this choice will repeat until you picked the right answer. If you choose to let Gladys help you. If you don't have the corgi, your LI will appear after the first conversation. For choices in The Royal Heir , click here. Sign In Don't have an account? Start a Wiki.
